A CAR was destroyed by fire on the A38.

Ashburton Fire Station has released these pictures of the fire they put out alongside colleagues from Bovey Tracey yesterday, Friday.

They report on Facebook: ‘Today at around 10.50am crews from Ashburton and Bovey Tracey fire stations were alerted to a vehicle fire on the south bound carriageway of the A38.

‘On arrival we could see that the vehicle was well alight. Crews set to work to extinguish the fire.

‘One hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus, one thermal imaging camera and small tools were used to make the area safe.’

The fire was near Drum Bridges roundabout.

A driver commented: ‘I went past this. Just after you’d put it out good on ya.’
